Let Us Joyfully Celebrate Moon Festival Dinner PDF Print E-mail
ImageSeptember 25, 2007 (Tuesday) is Lunar August 15 and is the traditional date of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival.  The evening of the moon festival is a time when families gather together to look at the moon and star-gaze.  This is a nostalgic moment for families present and abroad.

Seattle’s Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple will put together a potluck dinner banquet.  Everyone is welcome to bring their best dishes to offer to Buddha and to enjoy the Mid-autumn festival activities together.

Following the dinner, everyone will gather at the temple for activities.  Everyone is welcome to dress up, to perform, and to look at the moon on this special Mid-autumn festival.  The evening will include a lucky drawing of gifts.  Gifts will be rich, and there will be one special gift in the drawing from Eva airlines, a free luxurious economy class round-trip ticket from Seattle to Taipei.

True Buddha School welcomes the disciples’ family members to spend the festival together and to enjoy the harvest moon

The Walk for Rice PDF Print E-mail

On June 16, 2007, the Seattle temple participated in the 17th annual “Walk for Rice”, a fund raising event organized by the Asian Counseling and Referral Service Food Bank (ACRS), at Seward Park in Seattle. The event encompassed a 2.5 mile run and walk-a-thon, starting from 8am in the morning until 12:30pm. The ACRS Food Bank will use the money raised to benefit the homeless, the sick and elderly, the poor and low-income families.  Led by Master Dei Hui, about 20 participants representing the Seattle temple took part in the event. Some of the participants included Carlos, Larry, Winnie, Katy, Lily (Junior), Luo Shu Jun and other Dharma brothers and sisters from Singapore.

The Seattle temple handed over all the funds raised to the ACRS Food Bank on the day of the event. Led by Master Dei Hui, all participants completed the 2.5 mile run-walk, while the energetic Master continued to complete another round.  After that, everyone rested and had lunch while watching the performance that followed.  After the performance, the winner of the fund raising event was announced.  Once again our Seattle temple was the winner of the fund raising event, having raised the highest amount among all organizations. Our Seattle temple was proud to be the winner for the third consecutive year.

We are grateful to our Grand Master Lu’s (Shi Zun’s) teachings and encouragement to all disciples at the temple to be involved in charity work and to benefit and be of service to others and society wherever possible.
